Patrick Custodio Dies in Hayward Motorcycle Accident
HAYWARD, CA (July 3, 2019) – A man died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday morning on 880 Freeway in Hayward.
The fatal crash happened around 6:22 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway, just south of Tennyson Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old Patrick Custodio of San Leandro split lanes on his motorcycle when he rear-ended a pickup truck.
The impact ejected Custodio onto the pavement, where another truck struck him. Authorities pronounced Custodio dead at the scene.
The crash raised a SigAlert in the area, blocking four southbound lanes of 880 Freeway, just South of Tennyson Road. All lanes were reopened just before 9:00 a.m.
Police said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
