Patricia Workman Dies in Perris Accident, Misael Castaneda Arrested
PERRIS, CA (June 16, 2019) – A Moreno Valley woman died after a crash at Ramona Expressway and Evans Road Wednesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. A black 2005 Nissan Xterra was speeding while eastbound on Ramona Expressway. Subsequently, it blew a red light and struck a Toyota Camry that was northbound on Evans Road. The force of the crash pushed both vehicles into the westbound lanes of the expressway where they struck a 2014 Chevrolet van.
Officials identified the woman killed in the accident as 55-year-old Patricia Workman of Moreno Valley. Workman, who was driving the Toyota, died at the scene.
On the other hand, the driver of the van sustained minor injuries. A student who was also inside the van was not injured. However, paramedics transported the victims to the California School for the Deaf in Riverside.
In the meantime, the Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 29-year-old Misael Avalos Castaneda of Perris, the driver of the Nissan who fled on foot after the accident. Paramedics took Castaneda to a hospital with major injuries. Castaneda is under investigation for vehicular homicide.
Our deepest thoughts and condolences are with the loved ones of Patricia Workman.
