2 People Injured After Multi-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 96 in Sabine County
Sabine County, TX (February 19, 2024) – On Monday morning, Patricia Ritter, 80, from Pineland died in a multi-vehicle crash on US Highway 96.
A Texas DPS report states that around 8 a.m., a Dodge Caravan, driven south on U.S. Highway 96 behind a Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Equinox, collided with the two vehicles. Heavy smoke in the area led the Dodge’s driver to misjudge their speed.
Following this collision, a northbound truck tractor hit the Ford, which then pushed it back into the Dodge, causing the van to hit a Ford F-250 also traveling south.
Karen Underwood, 64, from Bronson, the Dodge’s driver, and one passenger received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Patricia Ritter, 80, from Pineland, another passenger in the Dodge, was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
Tiffani Bradberry, the administrator of Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation, identified Underwood and the injured passenger as nursing home staff members, and Ritter as a resident.
They were en route to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston at the time of the accident, according to Bradberry.
We at Sweet Lawyers extend our sympathy and condolences to the family and loved ones of Patricia Ritter. May the bereaved find strength and comfort in this difficult time.
