Driver Jailed in Modesto Deadly Crash
Modesto, CA (January 2, 2023) – Two passengers were killed and another was injured following a Lake Road DUI crash Monday morning.
It was about 3:44 a.m. on January 1 when the fatal collision happened at the intersection with Roberts Ferry Road.
Emergency crews that responded found a Toyota sedan driven by a man in his 20s overturned on the south side of Lake Road.
CHP officers said a Toyota sedan was westbound on Lake Road when it approached a right bend. It left the south road edge and overturned on the south side of the road.
Two rear passengers who were unrestrained were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The front passenger incurred major injuries and was hospitalized.
Officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol during the collision. He was transported to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries and was arrested on charges of felony DUI and felony gross vehicular manslaughter.
