Putnam Deadly Crash Sends 2 to Hospital
Callahan County, TX (September 3, 2024) – 66-year-old Tammy Sue Burks of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was killed in a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 early Monday morning.
It was before 3 a.m. when the deadly crash happened 3 miles east of Putnam.
Investigators determined a westbound truck on the highway has driver lost control of the vehicle due to wet road conditions.
The truck then swerved off the roadway to the north and overturned into the barrow ditch.
Tammy Sue Burks, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was declared dead at an area hospital.
The truck’s driver and another passenger were rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Trooper said both passengers were wearing seatbelts, but the driver was not, during the collision.
