Gaines County Fatal Crash Results in Injuries
Gaines County, TX (January 27, 2024) – 45-year-old Marianieves Leon Vasquez was killed and others were injured following a US 62 collision Wednesday.
Texas DPS officers said 59-year-old Kerry Williams was driving his truck eastbound on the freeway.
At the same time, 47-year-old Sergio Villegas with two passenger, one of them a minor, was also driving his truck in the same direction on the same road.
Williams rear-ended Villegas’ vehicle. As a result, Villegas’ veered off the roadway into a ditch and his truck rolled over.
Responders rushed Villegas to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital in stable condition.
Sadly, one of Villegas’ passengers, Marianieves Leon Vasquez, was pronounced dead.
Villegas’ second passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was rushed to University Medical Center Lubbock in serious condition.
The paramedics rushed Williams to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
