Hyundai Passenger Killed in Vehicle Collision on NE 79th Terrace [Kansas City, MO]

Kansas City, MO (July 28, 2024) – A Hyundai passenger was killed in a vehicle collision on NE 79th Terrace Friday night.

It was about 10:15 p.m. when the authorities responded to the two-car crash at the intersection with North Oak Trafficway.

Investigating officers determined that a Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on North Oak Trafficway. At the same time, a Hyundai Elantra started to turn left onto eastbound 79th Terrace from southbound North Oak Trafficway.

The Chevrolet struck the Hyundai as it was turning into the intersection.

The Hyundai’s driver and front-seat passenger were transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Hyundai’s backseat passenger sustained critical injuries and was transported to NKC Hospital where they died Saturday afternoon.

Officers said each individual in the Hyundai was not wearing a seat belt.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the collision.

KCPD is investigating the cause of the collision.
