Steven Bhardwaj Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash at Calvine Road and Bader Road
SACRAMENTO, CA (November 9, 2019) – A Sutter Creek man lost his life in a DUI crash on Calvine Road, Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:55 AM. A Toyota SUV drove through the intersection at Bader Road with a traffic signal showing green. At the same time, a Honda Accord failed to stop at the red light.
The Toyota SUV struck the Honda’s right-front passenger door, causing both cars to veer off the road.
Emergency responders rushed a passenger in the Honda Accord, identified as a 35-year-old Sutter Creek man, to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries shortly after the incident. Authorities withheld the identity of the man, pending notification of next of kin.
Another Honda passenger, identified as a 51-year-old man, suffered major injuries. Meanwhile, the Toyota SUV driver and her three passengers did not sustain injuries.
The Honda driver, identified as 33-year-old Steven Bhardwaj of Plymouth, sustained moderate injuries. At the hospital, Bhardwaj showed signs of drinking alcohol prior to the crash. Authorities later arrested him for DUI causing injury and death.
The CHP continues to investigate the fatal collision. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
