MESA, AZ (February 14, 2022) – Sunday, a passenger died in an accident on Loop 202 and Gilbert Road.
 
The incident happened in the eastbound lanes of Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway at Gilbert Road.
 
According to reports, the crash involved one vehicle that has overturned on the freeway. As a result, a passenger inside the vehicle was ejected.
 
Troopers confirmed that the passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the authorities suspect impairment as a factor in the crash.
 
By 7:17 p.m., the eastbound lanes of Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway reopened at Gilbert Road.
