Passenger Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on State Route 410 [Sumner, WA]

Sumner, WA (July 2, 2023) – On Saturday morning, three people sustained injuries following a wrong-way crash on State Route 410.

The authorities received the crash report past midnight east of Traffic Avenue.

WSP officers said that a 34-year-old Kent man driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra westbound in an eastbound lane and struck a 2015 Jeep Compass driven eastbound by a 30-year-old Yelm woman.

The medical team transported both drivers to area hospitals. Officers said both were allegedly intoxicated and arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault. 

Similarly, a 24-year-old woman riding the Hyundai also sustained injuries and taken to a hospital.

“Obviously, the person coming the wrong way is mostly at fault,” Trooper John Dattilo told The News Tribune, adding that it will be up to prosecutors to decide how to handle any charges. 

Meanwhile, the are no details if any of the occupants were wearing seat belts when the DUI collision east of Traffic Avenue happened.
