Passenger Injured in US 183 Rear-End Collision [Lampasas, TX]

Lampasas, TX (January 31, 2024) – A passenger was injured following a US 183 rear-end collision Wednesday morning.

It was about 4 a.m. when a truck tractor broke down on the outside southbound lane of the freeway.

Police said the truck tractor had reflective markers on its rear.

At the same time, a 28-year-old Pasadena man was driving a 2020 Ford Transit Van toward the truck tractor.

The driver stated that he briefly looked down, however, when he looked back up, he saw the truck tractor and was unable to avoid it.

As a result, the tractor driver rear-ended the tractor.

A 33-year-old passenger in the Ford Transit Van incurred incapacitating injuries. A Care Flight ambulance airlifted the passenger to Seton ER in Round Rock.

Troopers are still investigating.
