Passenger Injured in Street Race Crash on State Route 97 [Wapato, WA]

Wapato, WA (February 04, 2022) – On Sunday, a passenger sustained injuries in a street race crash on State Route 97.

The collision took place minutes before 6 p.m. south of Jones Road.

Apparently, two drivers were racing northbound when one lost control and struck the other. 

The emergency rescuers took the victim to Yakima Memorial Hospital.

Luckily, the driver and the other passenger did not sustain injuries in the collision.

Meanwhile, the driver responsible for the accident fled the scene.

Officers said it is unclear if the drivers knew each other.  They are still investigating the collision.
