52-Year-Old Driver Dies in Collision East of McCain Valley Road
San Diego County, CA (December 27, 2023) – A 43-year-old male passenger sustained injuries following a fatal collision on Interstate 8 Tuesday.
It was about 4:43 p.m. when the collision unfolded east of McCain Valley Road in Jacumba Hot Springs.
CHP officers said a 52-year-old woman was driving a westbound 2008 red Ford Edge on the freeway with a male passenger.
Suddenly, the vehicle swerved right, cut across multiple lanes, and drove down the cliff.
Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene while the passenger was rushed to an area hospital with major injuries.
Troopers are still investigating this deadly accident and believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.
