Passenger Injured in Deadly Crash on Interstate 5 [Fresno, CA]

Fresno, CA (August 22, 2024) – A Dodge passenger was injured following a fatal crash on Interstate 5 Tuesday night.

CHP officers responded at about 11 p.m. to the vehicle crash north of Nees Avenue.

Investigating officers said a 21-year-old man was speeding in a southbound 2020 Dodge.

At the same time, a 38-year-old man was also driving a 2023 Volvo southbound the same highway.

The Dodge driver failed to see the stopped traffic and drifted to the right attempting to avoid a collision. However, the left front of the Dodge had struck the right rear of the Volvo’s rear trailer.

The Dodge sustained major damage and the Volvo’s rear trailer was moderately damaged.

Sadly, the Dodge driver was killed at the scene while the Dodge incurred major injuries to her left leg. The passenger was airlifted to Memorial North Hospital in Modesto. 

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors in this collision.
