San Pablo Fiery Crash Kills Passenger
San Pablo, CA (May 23, 2021) – On Saturday, a passenger died in Interstate 80 Fiery vehicle crash.
The accident took place at 12:31 a.m.
Apparently, the driver trying to avoid a raccoon ran onto westbound Interstate 80.
He lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a freeway wall. It ignited a fireball that engulfed the SUV and killed a passenger.
When officers arrived, learned from distraught driver who told them a passenger was still inside the vehicle.
Udfortunately, the flames were too intense for crews to attempt a rescue.
Meanwhile, the driver told officers he was going about 55 mph when a raccoon ran in front of his vehicle.
Meanwhile, the dead man’s name was not released pending coroner’s identification and notification of the next of kin. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Officers said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
