2 Injured in Fatal Crash on Northbound I-5
San Joaquin County, CA (October 17, 2022) On Sunday evening, a solo-vehicle DUI crash on Interstate 5 killed 1 person and injured 2 others.
CHP say that the fatal crash happened at around 9:58 p.m. on Northbound -5, near the Westley Rest Area in Vernalis.
Reports say that the driver of a northbound car caused the vehicle to veer off the road into the dirt median.
Afterward, the vehicle rolled over and ejected the rear passenger out of the car. The passenger was not wearing their seatbelt, they landed on the dirt median and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries, both patients declined transport to a hospital.
Moreover, officials arrested the driver for DUI. CHP is investigating the incident and have not released further information regarding the crash.
