Saul Martinez Arrested after Hitting Students on the Intersection of Rosecrans and Downey Avenue
PARAMOUNT, CA (March 19, 2018) – Four students were injured after being hit by a truck right outside Paramount High School on Monday afternoon.
It happened around 3:15 PM near the Rosecrans and Downey Avenue Intersection. The 19-year-old driver of a pickup truck, Saul Martinez, lost control of his vehicle and hit four pedestrians. The victims were confirmed to be students of Paramount High School.
Two students were transported to St. Francis Medical Center, while the other two were taken to the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. They sustained minor to moderate injuries including bruises and broken bones, as a result of the crash. As of Monday night, all four were reported to be in a stable condition.
Police officials arrested Martinez for suspected reckless driving. He is currently scheduled to appear before the Compton Superior Court on a later date.
