Andrew Rants, Michael Barkanic, Pamela Dunham and Michelle Salmon in Four-Car Chain Reaction Crash on Highway 500 Near Andresen Road
VANCOUVER, WA (February 5, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized in a multiple-car accident on Highway 500 near Andresen Road, on Monday morning just before 6:30 AM.
According to the Washington State Patrol four people were involved in the incident including Andrew C. Rants, 31; Pamela P. Dunham, 74; Michelle L Salmon, 36; and Michael D. Barkanic, 26. All four cars were headed west on Highway 500 and approaching Andresen Road in the same line. Rants became distracted and failed to stop, crashing into the back of Dunham’s sedan. The crash caused a chain reaction; Dunham’s car then hit another car, which then hit a fourth and last vehicle in the chain.
Dunham and Salmon sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Salmon’s injuries were treated and she was released on Monday evening, while Dunham remained to continue evaluations. No updates on her condition have been released to the public at this time.
Officials says that three cars were totaled in the wreck, and the cause of the accident was distracted driving. Rants was cited for second degree negligent driving. No other injuries or damages have been reported.
