47-Year-Old Sleeping Man Fatally Struck by Truck at 2400 Pulgas Avenue
PALO ALTO, CA (May 17, 2018) – A 47-year-old homeless man was run over and killed in a truck accident on Pulgas Avenue, on Thursday morning.
Police were alerted by a welfare-check call at around 6:55 AM, about a man on the ground at the 2400 block of Pulgas Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the man was sleeping on an abandoned mattress and had wrapped himself in a plastic sheet and towels on an East Palo Alto street.
A large truck pulling to the side of the road ran over the man at around 6:35 AM. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have located the truck they believe ran over the man, whose identity was not immediately released. They are investigating the matter as a traffic accident.
