Rider Seriously Hurt in Palm Desert Motorcycle Wreck
PALM DESERT, CA (January 9, 2019) – A motorcyclist suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries after rear-ending a vehicle Monday morning on Monterey Avenue near Arboleda Drive.
Palm Desert Police Department deputies and emergency personnel were summoned to the scene before 11 a.m. after receiving reports about a major injury crash.
Arriving crews located a seriously injured rider in the center median of the roadway. Motorcycle parts and other debris were strewn throughout the scene.
An ambulance transported the injured rider, who was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, to a nearby hospital. Investigators at the scene surmised that the motorcyclist was heading southbound on Monterey Avenue at an undetermined speed when, for unknown reasons, the rider crashed into the back of the vehicle. The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike at approximately 30 feet away.
According to Sheriff’s investigators, alcohol or drug intoxication has not been ruled out yet. Anyone who holds information into this crash is urged to call the Palm Desert Police Department’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600.
