Ottoniel Mendoza Arrested after Kidnapping Incident and Bicycle Crash on Van Nuys Boulevard [Panorama City, CA]

Injuries Reported in Panorama City Bicycle Accident on Van Nuys Boulevard and Tupper Street

 
PANORAMA CITY, CA (July 7, 2022) – Wednesday morning, authorities arrested Ottoniel Mendoza after a bicycle crash on Van Nuys Boulevard.
 
The incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. on Van Nuys Boulevard and Tupper Street.
 
According to reports, 38-year-old Ottoniel Mendoza struck the 13-year-old male bicyclist with his 2019 gray Toyota Tundra. Then, Mendoza went out of the car, showed the victim a badge, and said that he was a police officer. Afterward, he asked the victim to get into his truck.
 
Then, a witness followed the suspect’s truck and reported the incident to the police.
 
When the officers arrived, they found Mendoza’s vehicle on Sepulveda Boulevard and Tupper Street.
 
Then, they found Mendoza and another man inside the truck with the victim at the time. Eventually, they transported the boy to a hospital for his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, authorities detained the suspect and the other man. Then, they later released the second man and booked Mendoza on suspicion of kidnapping.
