43-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Foothill Transit
IRWINDALE, CA (October 3, 2018) – A man was found dead Wednesday morning following a suspected hit-and-run crash near Foothill Transit. The victim was later identified as 43-year-old Oscar Alfonso Sapien, who was believed to have been homeless.
According to officials with the Irwindale Police Department, the victim unresponsive in the driveway of a compressed natural gas station in the 5600 block of Peck Road. Events leading up to the incident were not immediately available.
Sapien suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding firefighters. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the pedestrian. It is unclear whether or not the driver was aware of the collision.
Authorities believe that a large vehicle was involved in the deadly crash.
