Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Car on Intersection of Santa Ana Canyon and Orange Olive Roads
ORANGE, CA (April 26, 2018) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Santa Ana Canyon Road, early Thursday evening.
The crash occurred around 5:30 PM at the intersection of Santa Ana Canyon Road and North Orange Olive Road. According to police officials, the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Santa Ana Canyon Rd when it was struck by a car that was headed north on Orange Olive Rd.
The rider, whose identity was not immediately released, died from the impact of the collision, and their identity was not immediately released. The driver of the car that struck the bicyclist remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities were still investigating the incident of 9:20 PM on Thursday. Roads surrounding the site of the crash were closed off, including all lanes of Orange Olive between Riverdale and Lincoln Avenues. All westbound lanes of Santa Ana Canyon Rd at Ramona Street were also shut down, but reopened around 9 PM.
The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time.
