One Dead, Seven Hurt in Chualar Highway 101 Multi-Car Crash
CHUALAR, CA (February 26, 2019) – One person died after a four-vehicle collision on the northbound lanes of Highway 101 on Monday, February 25.
According to California Highway Patrol, at around 9:30 a.m., a driver headed south on Highway 101 lost control of the vehicle and struck the center divider. It went airborne into the opposite lane and then it crashed into a total of three vehicles.
A fifty-year-old man from Soledad was pronounced dead at the scene. Seven others were injured and brought to Natividad Hospital.
Rescue crews used the Jaws of Life on two vehicles, including the car of the person who died.
The road was shut down for around three hours. Drivers from the northbound lanes of the highway were diverted to Old Stage Coach Road. All lanes were fully reopened by 2 p.m.
It’s not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this accident. CHP is still investigating the collision.
