Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Crash on Highway 395 in Bishop
BISHOP, CA (August 17, 2019) – One person was killed following a wrong-way crash Saturday night on Highway 395 in Bishop.
Just before 6:00 p.m., a black Jeep Patriot SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound direction of Highway 395.
At the same time, a green Ford F-150 pickup was traveling northbound in the first lane of Highway 395. The SUV collided head-on with the Ford pickup, causing the pickup to overturn into the dirt shoulder.
At the time of the crash, a semi truck was traveling in the northbound second lane of Highway 395. The driver of the semi turned into the right shoulder to avoid the collision, causing the semi to jack-knife.
Both the SUV and pickup sustained major damage from the crash.
The Lone Pine Fire Department Ambulance transported the SUV driver to Southern Inyo Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the pickup was flown to Antelope Valley Hospital to be treated for major injuries.
No identifying information is being released at this time. The fatal crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Bishop Area Office.
