Car Collided into Jackknifed Semi on Highway 99 in Bakersfield Killing One
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 26, 2019) – One person was killed following a collision involving a semi truck and a car Saturday evening in Bakersfield.
The fatal collision happened around 9:12 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 near Copus Road.
The semi truck was jackknifed in the middle of the freeway and a red Honda Civic collided into it, CHP officials said.
Firefighters responded to the scene and found two occupants pinned inside the Honda. Extrication and life-saving measures were performed, but one of the patients did not survive.
A second patient was airlifted to a hospital in an unknown condition.
The precise circumstances that led to the fatal accident remain unclear at this time. Further investigation is underway.
