Fatal Rollover Crash on 80 Freeway in Alta
ALTA, CA (August 14, 2019) – One person was killed following a rollover crash late Wednesday evening on 80 Freeway in Placer County.
The crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Baxter Road on-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV was weaving on the freeway when it slid along the retaining wall and landed on its roof.
Fire crews arrived on the scene and found the driver still inside the vehicle. Paramedics performed life-saving aid but unsuccessful.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead by a coroner.
The CHP is still piecing together exactly what led up to the crash but do not believe any other vehicles were involved.
