One Killed in Rear-End Crash on 5 Freeway at Elk Grove Boulevard [ELK GROVE, CA]

Car Rear-Ends Semi Truck on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove, Fatality Reported

 
ELK GROVE, CA (November 17, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a rear-end crash Sunday evening in Elk Grove, CHP officials said.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:08 p.m. on 5 Freeway, just south of Elk Grove Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Nissan sedan was traveling southbound on the freeway when it rear-ended a semi truck for unknown reasons.
 
Responding firefighters found the sedan underneath the semi. They worked on the extrication and performed life-saving efforts. Sadly, they confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the crash.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
CHP officials are still tracking down other witnesses and 911 callers to get their accounts of the deadly incident.
