Fatality Reported after SUV Rear-Ends Semi Truck on 40 Freeway in Ludlow
LUDLOW, CA (August 19, 2019) – One person was killed after an SUV rear-ended a semi truck Monday morning in an accident on 40 Freeway, according to the CHP.
The crash happened around 11:04 a.m. on 40 Freeway, west of the Ludlow off-ramp. Police said a white Ford Explorer slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer for unknown reasons. The impact caused the SUV to sustain major damage and came to rest on its side in the center divider.
Scanner traffic reported an off-duty firefighter pronounced one person dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not immediately available.
A second patient had minor injuries and was awake and breathing.
The crash remains under investigation.
