Car Rear-Ends Big Rig on 580 Freeway in Pleasanton Leaving One Dead
PLEASANTON, CA (August 7, 2019) – At least one person was killed Wednesday following a rear-end crash on 580 Freeway, near 680 Freeway.
The crash happened around 10:38 p.m., at the intersection of 580 Freeway and 680 Freeway.
According to the CHP, white Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east when it struck the rear of a big rig on the right shoulder. However, the events leading up are currently unclear.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
All freeway lanes were shut down for unknown duration while evidence from the scene was collected and photographed.
The precise circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
