Head-On Crash on Del Dios Road in Escondido Kills 1 and Seriously Injures Another
ESCONDIDO, CA (November 28, 2019) – One person was killed following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Escondido.
The crash happened just after 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Del Dios and Mount Israel roads.
A 2006 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 47-year-old Escondido man, entered a left-hand curve at an unsafe speed for the wet weather conditions while traveling east. The pickup truck spun out and crossed into the opposing lane, crashing head-on into a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek.

The driver of the Subaru, a 27-year-old Encinitas woman suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took her to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment.
Del Rios Road was temporarily closed for about three hours while crews worked on the scene.
Authorities believe that neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
