Deadly Fiery Crash with Big Rig on 5 Freeway in Woodland
WOODLAND, CA (September 19, 2019) – One person was killed following a fiery big rig crash early Thursday morning in Yolo County.
The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. along southbound 15 Freeway near County Road 13, about four miles north of Woodland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black sedan and the big rig collided. The impact caused the sedan to burst into flames, sparking a brush fire. The big rig’s gas tank was punctured, spilling 70 to 80 gallons of fuel.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced one person dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
Authorities closed both freeway lanes while they investigated the cause of the crash.
