One Killed in Crash on Highway 178 at Democrat Road [BAKERSFIELD, CA]

Afternoon Crash Involving Motorcycle on Highway 178 in Bakersfield Ends in Fatality

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 22, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a traffic collision Saturday afternoon in Bakersfield.
 
The collision happened around 3:43 p.m. on Highway 178 at Democrat Road.
 
According to an initial log, a Chrysler PT Cruiser and possible two motorcycles were involved. The Kern County coroner was dispatched to the scene and confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident.
 
CHP officials closed the west entrance of the canyon. Both lanes of the highway were re-opened at 6:43 p.m.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available. The precise circumstances that led to the fatal accident also remain unclear at this time.
 
Investigation is still ongoing.
