Medical Emergency Causes Fatal Crash on 80 Freeway in Richmond
RICHMOND, CA (January 15, 2020) – One person was killed following a traffic collision Wednesday evening in Richmond.
The fatal collision happened around 7:00 p.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway, just before the Macdonald Avenue off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Dodge Ram pickup truck was involved. The driver had a medical emergency causing the crash.
Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
Officials issued a SigAlert in the area, closing the fifth lane and the off-ramp for unknown duration.
No additional information was provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
