Early Morning Crash on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove Ends in Fatality

 
ELK GROVE, CA (June 29, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a traffic collision early Saturday morning on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:13 a.m. on the southbound direction of the freeway, just South of Twin Cities Road.
 
Sacramento fire officials responded to the scene and located a vehicle that appeared to have crashed down an embankment. A coroner also arrived and confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident.
 
The name, age and town of residence of the victim were not immediately available.
 
The involved vehicle was towed away for evidence.
 
No additional information was provided at this time. The precise circumstances that led to the fatal crash remain under investigation.
