Driver Dies after SUV Hits Brick Wall on Bodega Highway in Sebastopol
SEBASTOPOL, CA (August 30, 2019) – A driver was killed after crashing his SUV into a brick wall Friday night in unincorporated Sonoma County, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Bodego Highway near Watertrough Road.
According to the CHP, a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it drifted off the roadway. The driver was unable to handle the leftward curve of the road and veered into Watertrough Road.
The SUV then slammed into a cinder-block wall in front of a residence and went through it, and then struck a large sycamore tree, authorities said.
As a result, the front end of the car had been pushed into the driver’s seat.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene.
No one else was in the vehicle and no one at the residence was injured in the crash.
CHP officials are still investigating this tragic accident.
