Early Morning Crash on Highway 101 at Hellyer Avenue Turns Fatal
SAN JOSE, CA (May 25, 2019) – One person was killed following a car accident early Saturday morning on Highway 101 in San Jose.
The fatal crash happened around 3:08 a.m. along the northbound lanes of the highway at Hellyer Avenue.
According to an initial report, a red sedan had crashed into the center divider and the car was smoking from the impact.
Three people were found trapped inside the vehicle when firefighters arrived. One occupant was reported to have possibly ejected during the crash.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures on the victim, but one of the patients was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash raised a traffic alert in the area, blocking the southbound lanes of Highway 101 and the on-ramp of Hellyer Avenue for unknown duration.
No identifying information is being released at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
