SUV Lost Control and Crashes into Center Divider of 10 Freeway in San Diego Killing One
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 4, 2019) – One person died when an SUV lost control and slammed into a center divider Wednesday morning near downtown San Diego.
The crash happened around 11:12 a.m. on southbound 5 Freeway, just north of 10th Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Honda CR-V lost control and collided with the divider of the freeway. It then skidded away from the divider and came to a rest in the middle lanes. The initial crash caused a chain-reaction involving at least six other vehicles.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and confirmed one fatality from the Honda. The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending family notification.
Police briefly shut down three lanes of the freeway while they worked on the scene.
The exact caused of the crash remains under investigation.
