One Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on Balfour Road near American Avenue [BRENTWOOD, CA]

Morning 3-Vehicle Crash on Balfour Road in Brentwood Kills 1 and Injures Another

 
BRENTWOOD, CA (August 25, 2019) – One person was killed following a three-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Brentwood.
 
The crash happened just before 9:00 a.m. on Balfour Road near American Avenue.
 
Brentwood Police responded to the scene and located three vehicles that appeared to have collided head-on.
 
Police determined that a Nissan Altima was heading eastbound on Balfour Road behind a Mini Cooper. The driver of the Nissan attempted to pass the Mini Cooper over double solid yellow lines.
 
While attempting to overtake, the Nissan clipped the Mini Cooper and struck a white Toyota minivan head-on, which was traveling westbound on Balfour.
 
As a result, the male driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported the driver of the minivan to a local hospital with minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mini Cooper was not injured.
 
Balfour Road was closed for several hours while officers investigated the incident.
 
It is unknown whether drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
