One Killed in Accident on El Sobrante Road [Riverside, CA]

One Dies as Vehicle Crashes into Light Pole near Mockingbird Canyon Road

RIVERSIDE, CA (September 19, 2018) – One person was killed in an accident on El Sobrante Road, early Wednesday morning. The name, age, and place of residence of the deceased victim were not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 4:08 AM, near Mockingbird Canyon Road. Initial reports showed that one vehicle had struck a light pole, trapping one victim inside.

It was not clear if other cars were involved in the incident. Several other vehicles stopped at the crash site to assist the injured victim, before first responders arrived. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters arrived at the scene and prnounced the victim dead on site.

The involved vehicle was completely wrecked and was towed away for evidence. It is unknown if speed, drugs, and/ or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash. CHP officisl are currently investigating the incident to determine the events leading up to the collision, and possivle contributing facotrs. No additional information has been released to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
