One Airlifted after Somis Motorcycle Collision on Balcom Canyon Road
SOMIS, CA (November 19, 2018) – One person who was flown out by helicopter after a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Sunday, November 18.
The collision was reported at around 4:13 p.m. in the 8100 block of Balcom Canyon Road, near Bradley Road. The scene is in hillside terrain along a rural route between Moorpark and Santa Paula.
The California Highway Patrol reports said the motorcycle, described as a black Harley-Davidson crashed with an Acura sedan. The person who reported the crash stated that the motorcycle had been on the wrong side of the road and was struck by the vehicle, although that information was not yet confirmed by officials.
Balcom Canyon Road was shut down in both directions for a time as a county helicopter crew, Air Squad 6, landed for the medical evacuation.
The patient sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
