Car Crashes into Train in Solano County
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (January 27, 2019) – A vehicle crashed into a train on Fox Road causing one person to be injured Sunday morning near Vacaville.
California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 4:33 AM in a unincorporated area in Solano County at Fox Road main line railroad crossing.
Union Pacific spokeswoman Hannah Bolte said the driver was distracted at the time of the accident which caused his Honda Accord to be struck by a freight train. Due to the impact, the Honda sustained major front end damages and was pushed 100 feet away from the crossing.
The driver was the only occupant in the car and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to the Kaiser Medical Center in Vacaville for further medical evaluation.
The identity of the driver and his current condition has not been released to the public.
CHP is still investigating the incident, no further information has been disclosed.
