Autumn Zachary Arrested in Bakersfield Crash Resulting in Injury
Bakersfield, CA (November 05, 2021) — On Wednesday, a person suffered injuries while officers arrested 22-year-old Autumn Zachary in a stolen vehicle crash on Oswell Street.
The incident took place at around 12:28 p.m. at the intersection with Virginia Avenue.
Officers responded to a report of an occupied stolen vehicle.
Officers said the victim’s daughter followed the stolen vehicle driven by the suspect, Zachary.
Moreover, police said they saw the suspect intentionally rammed into the victim’s daughter’s vehicle.
The officers attempted to stop Zachary, but she did not yield and led the authorities in a vehicle pursuit.
“Due to traffic conditions and the highly unsafe manner in which the stolen vehicle was being operated, officers canceled the pursuit in the area of Niles Street at Mount Vernon Avenue out of a concern for public safety,” police said.
Afterward, the stolen vehicle struck an uninvolved car and it became disabled.
Zachary fled on foot but the authorities were able to take her into custody in the area.
Meanwhile, the uninvolved motorist complained of pain and received first aid treatment at the scene.
Luckily, no one else suffered injuries in the incident.
Later on, officers booked Zachary into the Kern County Jail. She faces charges of Assault with a deadly weapon, charges associated with the stolen vehicle, felony evading, and other associated charges.
