Three-Car Crash on Portal Way Results in Injuries

Custer, WA (November 13, 2021) – On November 11, a person suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Portal Way.

The three-car crash took place at about 1:30 p.m. in the  7100 block area.

Reports said one of the involved vehicles rested near a culvert in a deep ditch that runs under Portal Way and adjacent railroad tracks.

Traffic crews removed the driver from the vehicle that was in the ditch. They placed the driver in a rescue basket and then lifted them out via ropes attached to a ladder truck.

Moreover, rescuers took one patient to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, the authorities closed Portal Way in both directions for an extended time following the incident.

Police are still investigating this incident.

When driving, better to scan the road 1/2 mile to a full mile ahead in order to look out or recognize potential hazards in time. Our bodies weren’t designed to travel at 50mph. Our bodies are designed for speeds of less than 10mph. Thus, you need to learn to consciously break that natural instinct and focus farther ahead.
