One Fatally Injured in Accident on 15 Freeway [Vista, CA]

Driver Ejected from Car, Struck and Killed by Oncoming Traffic near Gopher Canyon Road

 
VISTA, CA (September 29, 2018) – Early Saturday morning, one person was ejected from his vehicle, struck, killed in an accident on 15 Freeway. The deceased victim’s name, age, and place of residence were not immediately released pending notification of family members.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 4:15 AM, near Gopher Canyon Road.
 
As per reports, the accident began when a car rear-ended another vehicle in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Due to the impact of the collision, the driver was ejected onto the highway lanes, where he was hit by at least one car. Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
 
Lanes of the 15 Freeway were closed for several hours, as cleanup and investigation took place. Authorities continue to investigate in order to determine the cause of the fatal collision and to identify possible contributing factors. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
