Solo Vehicle Involved in Fatal Collision near Chard Avenue
RED BLUFF, CA (September 7, 2018) – On Friday afternoon, one person was fatally injured in a rollover crash on Rawson Road. The deceased victim’s identity was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the solo-vehicle collision took place at approximately 2:08 PM at a narrow bridge near the intersection of Chard Avenue.
A Chevrolet HHR reportedly plowed through the bridge guardrail, overturned, and landed about 30 feet from the roadway. Events leading up to the collision are unknown at this time.
Emergency responders found the motorists with open fractures and other major traumatic injuries. An Enloe Flight Care air ambulance transported the victims to the hospital for treatment. One person later succumbed to their injuries and was declared dead by medical personnel. It is unclear how many people were injured, and their current medical condition.
The Chevy sustained heavy front-end damage in the collision. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No other details have been disclosed at this time.
