One Killed, One Hurt after Seattle Head-On Collision on Airport Way South
SEATTLE, WA (October 9, 2019) – One person died and another injured after a head-on collision on Airport Way South on Tuesday, October 8.
According to Seattle PD, at around 7:00 a.m., a patrol officer tried to pull over a Mercedes SUV for a traffic infraction in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue South. The Mercedes sped off, ran through a red light and then struck a parked car.
The officer didn’t pursue the Mercedes but did broadcast the suspect’s car description.
Police say a few minutes later, the Mercedes sped through on Airport Way South when it crashed into a semi traveling northbound on South Hinds Street head-on. Two people occupied the SUV. One died and the other is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
Officials shut down Airport Way South in both directions as detectives investigated the scene.
