Fatality Reported in Vacaville; Wrong-Way DUI Driver Arrested
VACAVILLE, CA (January 28, 2019) — A wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a fatal crash on Saturday, January 26.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Miguel Camarena, the crash was reported at around 1:28 a.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway, near the Vacaville Premium Outlets and the junction of Highway 505.
The man driving the wrong way and the driver of the other vehicle were both rushed to a medical center. But the person in the other car, whose identity was not released, succumbed to injuries suffered in the collision, Camarena said.
There were no passengers in both vehicles, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities stated that alcohol played a role in the incident, and arrested the wrong-way driver of suspicion of driving under the influence.
