Two Vehicles Involved in Collision near Rancho Alegre
SANTA BARBARA, CA (January 5, 2020) – One person suffered critical injuries after a head-on crash in the 2300 block of Highway 154 on early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Rancho Alegre at approximately 12:06 AM.
Reports from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department showed that a blue Nissan Sentra crossed the centerline of the road resulting in a head-on collision with an unidentified vehicle.
Firefighters extricated the driver, and only occupant of the Nissan, with serious injuries. The victim is listed in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries from the impact. In addition, paramedics transported all patients to Santa Barbra Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance.
It is not yet determined how or why the first driver drifted over the center-line. However, officers did not suspect alcohol or drugs are involved. However, an investigation is on-going.
