Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted after Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Oakdale Road
MODESTO, CA (October 6, 2018) – A woman was killed Saturday morning following a pedestrian collision on Claratina Avenue. The deceased victim was later identified as 35-year-old Olena Gaines, a resident of Modesto.
According to the Modesto Police Department, the incident took place at about 5:00 AM near Oakdale Road. The woman had exited her car during an argument and walked along Claratina, where she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Gaines suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the driver of the suspect vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area. There is no description of the hit-and-run vehicle or the driver at this time.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the whereabouts of the hit-and-run driver and the vehicle involved, and to identify other possible contributing factors.
